In honor of Indigenous Peoples Month, the Care for Creation Ministry at Franciscan Renewal Center will host its Fall 2023 movie night on Friday, November 17. The films selected will give insights into the experiences of our indigenous brothers and sisters with their ecological struggles.
Four short films will be shown, illuminating native tribal perspectives within the United States on our relationship with the Earth. Nation in Transition is a film that looks at the Navajo Nation’s relationship with coal and the closing of a coal-fired power plant. Water Flows Together draws you into relationship with the San Juan River, led by a Navajo river guide. The Hunt is a story of using indigenous food to help heal trauma on the White Mountain and San Carlos Apache reservations. The program closes with the short film, Inspired by Nature, that is used as a visual prayer. There will be scheduled time for small-group conversation within the program.
Doors open at 5:30 pm and dinner is served until 6:30 pm.
Fee: $15 per person
Pre-registration at the FRC Retreat Portal by Nov. 16 required.
