Attend AZIPL’s Zoom seminar on Oct. 9 with Rev. Jennifer Hawks, Associate General Counsel with BJC.
Rev. Hawks has been working with the San Carlos Apache Tribe to protect their sacred land of Chíi’chil Bildagoteel, or Oak Flat. The mining company Resolution Copper is prepared to begin block cave mining of the area as soon as a federal land swap is enacted. The mine will destroy Oak Flat, creating a huge subsidence crater. Rev. Hawks will talk about what’s at stake and update us on the status in Congress, in the Courts and with the Biden Administration. BJC is an organization with Baptist roots working on religious freedom cases. For more info you can read Rev. Hawk’s article here.
