The Arizona Corporation Commission is expected to cast a final vote on Salt River Project’s proposal to nearly double the size of the Coolidge Generating Station. The Coolidge Generating Station is right across the street from the unincorporated Town of Randolph, a historic Black community since the end of World War II. The town’s residents fiercely oppose the plant’s expansion, as do many other Pinal County residents, public health, consumer, and clean energy advocates.
Recent coverage of the expansion plans and its impact on a historic Black community can be found here, here, and here.
Now it is up to the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) to decide whether to affirm, reject, or modify the CEC. Join us for a news conference!
